Apple Dumplin'

Well, I've made a decision! Instead of shutting this old.. OLD... OLD deviantart down and creating a new one, I'm embracing my past and keeping it! So expect a huge dump of new art coming soonish. Just to kick things off, here's my latest non-work piece--- entered for a Create Your Own Foal contest, in hopes of winning delicious pony swag!

Challenge: Take two characters (whatever species or gender) from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and make their baby! So I came up with a filly for my favorite pairing... little Apple Dumplin'!

Age: A little older than the Cutie Mark Crusaders!
Species: Earth
Pelt Color: Pink
Mane/Tail/Markings Color & Style: Orangey-yellow, curly and wild!
Eye Color: Big and green, like her daddy's!

Cutie Mark: A sweet little apple dumpling (sprinkled with sparkly sugar, of course) and a green apple slice! Apple Dumplin's cutie mark puts her mom's love of sweet treats with her dad's passion for apples. This perfect combination represents her ability to bring ponies together to work as a team, no matter how difficult the task! Apple Dumplin' is a born leader, diplomatic and fair. Put her in charge of a project, from Apple Buckin' to Winter Wrap Up tasks, and you're sure to get a sweet result!

Motivation: Rather than leaning toward Pinkie Pie's culinary prowess and party-throwing frolic, Apple Dumplin's taken after her father with a love for Sweet Apple Acres. She loves hard work and getting down and dirty with any chore, and especially loves the delicious reward: Juicy apples of every color and kind! She -didn't- inherit Big Mac's quiet nature, however-- she loves and knows everypony as well as her energetic mom, and can figure out a way to make anypony feel useful on a team! Work may be hard, but that doesn't mean it can't be FUN! While her main goal in life is to help run Sweet Apple Acres, her greatest dream right now is to be able to pull the plow, just like her daddy. With enough hard work, practice, and maybe even a little harness of her very own (made by who else but Aunty Rarity), she knows she'll be able to do it someday!

Likes: Apples, apples, apples, athletic games, make-believe, Apple Buckin' (she hasn't been able to knock an apple down yet, but she'll keep trying!), reading in the orchards, coming up with ways to make even the most mundane tasks (apple peeling and coring, ugh!) fun, encouraging and supporting her friends, learning new rope tricks from Aunt Applejack, barrel racing, listening to Granny Smith tell stories of what Ponyville was like when she was a little filly, and bouncing on daddy!

Dislikes: Bullies, excluding anypony, playing dress-up, not being able to finish something on time, letting anypony down, ponies who don't keep their promises, disappointing anypony, sleeping in, dishonesty, lack of ambition, fancy parties.

Character Summary: No one would've suspected that mild-mannered, soft and quiet Big Macintosh would've had eyes for the crazily energetic, non-stop-party Pinkie Pie. But the old stereotype is true: Opposites attract! Growing together, Pinkie brought Big Mac out of his shell and into the wacky land of spontaneity, and Big Mac helped the perky pink pony understand the serenity of a little... peace and quiet. (Not to mention how to understand when everypony couldn't party, and deal with her bouts of straight-haired depression!) Apple Dumplin' got the best of both worlds from her parents: A love of hard work and an unwaveringly happy, determined attitude. As a leader, Apple Dumplin' is kind, sweet, encouraging, and always down to mix work with play! Though she doesn't TRY to be as peculiar as her mother was as a filly, she can't help being different-- her most recent decision to cut her tail bobbed short like her dad was quite the scandal amid her filly friends, and she just can't help but bounce wherever she goes!
